Drawings!

Revisiting the wonders of pen and ink and guoache has been a very rewarding experience for me. Here are a couple of in-class drawings from my Drawing for Illustration class. Thank you, Gayle.

B, Z, T, and K

For my second term Painting and Composition class final with Alex Schaeffer, I decided to complete some individual paintings of the letters of the alphabet. Shown here are my friends Ben, Zach, Trent, and Kwanchai. Thanks again for modeling, guys!

T-shirt time!

Hey everyone!

I'm submitting a design to Threadless.com! It is the Illustrator version of the now famous Octospaghettikitteh! Please help me out by going online and scoring it for me, once it is approved for scoring. They'll pay me a lovely amount if it is approved for printing, and tuition won't pay for itself! Thank you so much!

Sketchbook-ing

Here are some freedom and observational drawings from my sketchbook. I am currently revisiting pencil and ink, and I feel my experimentations with taking up space using pattern and line (or lack thereof) have helped to open a new door in my own characteristic style.
Introducing Octospaghettikitteh! A silk screen print for t-shirts may be presented in the future.
Self portrait in the middle of the night.
The chair furthest to the right only has three legs. A Toyota dealership employee was bent on sabotage.

A slice of satire for popular culture. Meow.

Work and Play

I've made friends with some regulars at work who happen to be working in the animation department for a company that I've been fond of for most of my life. Here are a couple of drawings by Bob and Tom that were created in a mini collaboration on receipt paper.

Composition&Painting

After a restful 3 weeks of vacation after spring term, I am ready to present the fruits of my labor. Here are some paintings that were completed in class for Alex Shaeffer's Composition and Painting class. I feel so much more confident with color and value.

Movie Time!

I had an assignment in my digital class that required us to
create a poster either for a movie or for an event.

My inspiration came from the poster for the movie "Precious".

First Offical Post

When I was told that Art Center would be difficult, I tried my best to prepare for it both emotionally and financially. The truth is that no one can ever be ready for Art Center. Each student has a unique experience; a story to tell.
Midterms are almost over, and it's shocking to me that my first term will end in only four weeks. I feel that I have learned so much so far from these amazing professors and my talented fellow students.
Anyway, to the point of this entry:
I have been quite busy so far this term, but now I will take the time to post some of my work. Enjoy everyone, I welcome feedback!

Until next time,
Caitlin Anne
